EIR
Equipment Identity Register

The EIR stores IMEI (International Mobile station Equipment Identity) numbers in order to filter unwanted handsets off the network. Handsets are “white listed”, “grey listed” or “black listed” as appropriate and may have their service revoked if they are allocated to the grey or black list. The GERAN, UTRAN, E-UTRAN and NG-RAN systems can all use the EIR.
