In MPLS VPN , use of LDP requires manual configuration at both ends of the network, which is a significant disadvantage if VPN are to be implemented on a large scale. In contrast, if BGP is used for signalling and control, the BGP Auto discovery procedure will enable the pseudowire to be established automatically. BGP Updates will be passed from an ingress LER to all egress LER. These updates will contain unique identifiers for CE devices attached to the ingress LER, known as CEID.
