LTE-A LTE Advanced
Standardized in 3GPP Release 10, LTE-Advanced introduced enhancements to the LTE Radio interface which allow typical user data rates in the low hundreds of Mbps, with theoretical rates in the downlink as high as 1Gbps. Technologies introduced in order to facilitate this include higher order modulation techniques (128 QAM), Carrier Aggregation (up to 5x20MHz channels hence 100MHz total) and enhanced MIMO (up to 8x8).
