Course Details
This course seeks to provide an overview of the architecture and operation of today’s 5G networks, aimed at individuals who need to take a deeper dive into 5G without the heavy technical detail. The course covers the driving factors for deploying 5G, examining the original pillars related to eMBB, URLLC and MMTC but also including the latest developments up to Release 19. Both Non-Standalone and Standalone 5G are explained, before providing more detail on the key technologies associated with 5G New Radio, the Next Generation Radio Access Network and the 5G Core (which includes detail on cloud native networks, network slicing and edge computing). Operational aspects of the network are also explored, looking at 5G through a “day in the life” of a 5G device. The course will then conclude with a consideration of 5G success stories; namely Fixed Wireless Access, Private 5G, and Non Terrestrial Networks.
