NetX

Alaskan network operator, GCI leveraged NetX for 5G network monitoring to deliver enhanced performance to their customers.
GCI is the largest and most advanced network in Alaska. Providing 5G coverage to some of the remotest areas in North America requires a team of highly skilled technicians to understand and monitor the network to ensure quality of service is maintained.
To assist with KPI monitoring and analysis, the GCI team needed training that would provide a visual reference to help analyze and isolate the different architectural components of Non Standalone 5G. Moreover, the team needed to easily identify the differences between 4G based NSA procedures compared to 5G SA.
Within NetX, Mpirical’s interactive network map, the team used the Maps and Network Procedure features to improve their understanding of 5G NSA KPIs against the more familiar KPIs of 4G.
The visual representation and ability to explore various network scenarios meant they could easily identify network functions and their relationship to one another, resulting in enhanced understanding and troubleshooting of their own network.
Using the built-in IMS maps and flows, the team were also able to analyze signalling flows which helped them implement the right monitoring solutions and parameters for GCI’s network and as a result, provide better service for their customers.
Access to NetX has had such a positive impact on their technical teams that they even use it to train their SME’s and incorporate it into their standard training for new NOC Technicians.
