Cellular IoT

The recent growth of “Internet of Things” has started to lead the industry away from non-cellular IoT devices towards Cellular IoT devices, i.e. devices that utilize cellular technologies, e.g. GPRS/EDGE or LTE. As such, 3GPP has added as part of Release 13 three CIoT technologies: EC-GSM-IoT, LTE-M and NB-IoT. This course starts by introducing IoT verticals, services and challenges, as well as briefly describing various short range and Cellular IoT solutions. It then goes on to define in detail the specifics of the 3GPP CIoT solutions: EC-GSM-IoT, LTE-M and NB-IoT.
