WiMAX Radio Network Planning and Design

  • Duration: 3 days or 18 hours
  • Level: Level 4

WiMAX Radio Network Planning and Design

WiMAX radio access is based on OFDM/OFDMA and supports various frequency bands and bandwidth options. This course details the radio network design process, incorporating the available options in WiMAX. As such, it examines the requirements and considerations a planner needs when designing WiMAX coverage and capacity. Those attending should have a good understanding of WiMAX operation and the WiMAX air interface ie mpirical’s WiMAX System Engineering, WiMAX Air Interface or WiMAX Planning Primer courses.

Who Should Attend

Technical Staff who will be involved in WiMAX radio network planning and design. Research and Development Staff who need a detailed understanding of WiMAX planning issues.

Course Outline

Divided into 10 sections, the topics covered will include:

Section 1: WiMAX Deployment Options (1.5 hours)

Section 2: The Planning Process (1.5 hours)

Section 3: WiMAX Air Interface (1.5 hours)

Section 4: WiMAX Traffic Profiles (1.5 hours)

Section 5: Radio Propagation for WiMAX (2 hours)

Section 6: Antenna Selection (1.5 hours)

Section 7: WiMAX Dimensioning (2 hours)

Section 8: WiMAX Coverage and Capacity Planning (3.5 hours)

Section 9: Site Location and Integration (1.5 hours)

Section 10: Planning 802.16e Mobility (1.5 hours)
