Ranging is the process a mobile terminal will complete in order to obtain from a Base Station correct timing offset and power adjustment information. Ranging is carried out to ensure the terminal’s transmissions are aligned to the Base Station’s reception window, as well as ensuring that the received power at the Base Station is correct.
