The WiMAX 802.16e specification is an amendment to 802.16-2004 and has been designed to address key mobility issues, in addition to power control and paging procedures. It is often referred to as “Mobile WiMAX”. The 806.16e specification only defines the air interface procedures and protocols, as such other standards may be also required to facilitate full system operation. These include:
IEEE 802.16f - Management Information Base
IEEE 802.16g - Management Plane Procedures and Services
IEEE 802.16h - Improved Coexistence Mechanisms for License-Exempt Operation
IEEE 802.16i - Mobile Management Information Base
In addition, the WiMAX Forum is required to aid interoperability and conformance.
