The DIAMETER protocol is intended to provide a framework for any services which require AAA (Access, Authorization, and Accounting)/Policy support across many networks. Access and Authentication are achieved through a key distribution system coordinated through a key broker. The main functions of DIAMETER are to support MIP (Mobile IP), Accounting, Network Access and Strong Security.
