In Bluetooth™, each baseband packet starts with an Access code, which can be one of 3 types:
CAC (Channel Access Code)
DAC (Device Access Code)
IAC (Inquiry Access Code)
The respective access code types are used for a Bluetooth™ unit in different operating modes. The CAC (Channel Access Code) identifies a piconet. The DAC (Device Access Code) is used for special signalling procedures and the IAC (Inquiry Access Code) is used to discover other Bluetooth™ units are in range.
