 SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) – 1 hour

This module examines the IP based network management protocol of SNMP with regards to it use in both a telecommunication and data network. The concept of managed objects is discussed along with the significance of the MIB (Management Information Base).

SNMP operation is explained in terms of the standard signalling commands - Get, Set and Trap. Finally, interworking between SNMP and TMN (Telecommunication Management Network) is discussed with regards operation at the element manager layer.
