IPv6 Operation - 3 hours
With the number of operational IPv6 networks increasing steadily, this module examines the rational behind the latest version of IP. In so doing, it examines the new IP header format including the new IP addressing scheme - hexadecimal colon notation in addition to the use of extension headers to maximize the efficient routing of IPv6 datagrams, enhance security and improvements to IP mobility as well as ensuring the protocol remains future proof. The IPv6 address space is examined with regards unicast, anycast and multicast operation. In addition the relationship of IPv4 and IPv6 addressing is also discussed.
IPv6 fragmentation and reassembly is also examined along with the parallel version six protocols such as ICMPv6. |
