IP Security Explained (3 hours)Forming part of mpirical’s acclaimed “Explained” series, this 3 hour eSeminar introduces IP Network Security. SynopsisDivided into 3 sections, the topics covered will include: Section 1: The Threat Climate (1 hour)This initial section is designed to provide a concise overview of the threats currently faced by IP based transport networks. Included in this is a description of popular Malware delivery mechanisms and also an appreciation of how NGN can be vulnerable to attacks such as DDoS. The section will also provide a list of the top 10 threats predicted for 2009.
Section 2: Securing Traffic in NGN (1 hour)The second section moves on to discuss how NGN networks can be secured against potential attack, analyzing the specific techniques employed to protect NGN signalling and media. In addition, hardware based techniques are also examined, showing how tools such as the SBC (Session Border Controller) can be used to protect network boundaries.
Section 3: Defence in Depth (1 hour)This concluding section is designed to provide a comprehensive approach to deploying appropriate security, introducing the concept of a security strategy and showing how the Defence-in-Depth model is employed. As such, the various layers of the Defence in Depth model will be highlighted and explained accordingly.
