Evolved EDGE Explained (3 hours)

Forming part of mpirical’s acclaimed “Explained” series, this 3 hour eSeminar introduces Evolved EDGE or EGPRS2. In so doing, the eSeminar explains why Evolved EDGE should be considered, before addressing the key features associated with the technology. Network Deployment is also discussed, thereby ensuring all attendees will leave the session with a comprehensive understanding of the issues surrounding Evolved EDGE.

Divided into 3 sections, the topics covered will include:

Section 1: Why Evolved EDGE? (1 hour)

The eSeminar begins by explaining what is meant by the term Evolved EDGE or EGPRS2 before discussing how the technology can be implemented within existing GERANs and as part of a service provider’s mix of access technologies. In so doing, the value proposition associated with Evolved EDGE is discussed in light of the development of other technologies - HSPA+ and LTE.

  • Evolving EDGE - A Value Proposition.

Section 2: The Evolved EDGE Feature Set (1 hour)

Evolved EDGE can be described in terms of a number of new features. This section therefore examines this feature set including new modulation and coding schemes, an increased symbol rate, latency reduction through fast acknowledgements, the addition of a second downlink carrier and finally the introduction of receiver diversity in the mobile.

Section 3: Deploying Evolved EDGE (1 hour)

The final section reviews some of the issues which need to be addressed when deploying Evolved EDGE. In conclusion, the eSeminar reviews current forecasts for Evolved EDGE and analyzes the current market.
