Deploying the E-UTRAN - Considerations, Challenges and Solutions (3 hours)Forming part of mpirical’s acclaimed “Explained” series, this 3 hour eSeminar provides a detailed introduction into deploying the E-UTRAN. In so doing, the eSeminar explains the main features and capabilities of the E-UTRAN and LTE mobile, before discussing the key deployment opportunities. As such, the reuse of existing GSM / UMTS sites and the potential deployment of Femto cells is examined. Finally, the issues of IP services and increased data rates on the E-UTRAN are examined. Who Should AttendProject Managers and Technical Sales involved in the deployment of an LTE network. Network Engineers requiring an appreciation of the main considerations when deploying an E-UTRAN. SynopsisDivided into 3 sections, the topics covered will include: Section 1: E-UTRAN Capabilities and Features (1 hour)The E-UTRAN is a vital part of the LTE network. This section introduces the LTE / SAE architecture, focusing on the eNB and associated IP based infrastructure. In addition, the key terminology used within the E-UTRAN is defined. Finally, eNB features are discussed, including the possible frequency bands, channel bandwidths etc.
Section 2: E-UTRAN Deployment Opportunities (1 hour)This section discusses some of the main reasons for deploying an LTE network. As such, the available options for service providers with a GSM only, combined GSM/UMTS and UMTS only network are examined. In doing so, the section discusses cell site location, reuse of existing site, as well as the implementation of new sites and the use of Femto cells. In addition, frequency re-farming for LTE is also examined.
Section 3: Implementation Considerations (1 hour)The implementation of LTE into a service provider's network needs careful planning, predominantly due to the fact that a new radio access technology is being utilized. This section includes a discussion on the various implementation issues, including the backhaul requirements and interworking between existing networks.
