This eSeminar identifies the key aspects of CDMA2000 prior to discussing the CDMA2000 features and protocols in more detail. Finally, the CDMA2000 initial procedures and services, as well as possible mobility scenarios, will be examined.

Who Should Attend

Mobile and Network Engineers requiring a technical appreciation of CDMA2000 operation. Technical Support Staff involved in the management / deployment of a CDMA2000 network.

Synopsis

Divided into 3 sections, the topics covered will include:

Section 1: Introduction to CDMA2000 (1 hour)

This section identifies the 3GPP2 offerings based upon the CDMA 2000 family of technologies, EvDO Rev A and Rev B. CDMA2000. These services provide a 3G system comparable to UMTS with it’s enhanced packet channels. This section details the CDMA2000 network architecture.

  • The EvDO Family - charting the development to CDMA2000 EvDO Rev B.
  • The CDMA2000 RAN - role of the BTS and BSC.
  • The CDMA2000 Core Network - role of the PDSN and Home Agent, AAA architecture and Billing.

Section 2: The CDMA 2000 Air Interface (1 hour)

This section details the operation of the CDMA2000 air interface. As such, the section discusses the 1XRTT and 3XRTT deployments, as well as the utilization of CDMA and the use of CDMA2000 codes. In so doing, the different CDMA2000 channels and their capabilities are explored. Finally, some of the air interface operational procedures are discussed.

  • CDMA Operation.
  • CDMA2000 1XRTT and 3XRTT.
  • CDMA2000 operation - key channels and operation.

Section 3: CDMA2000 Procedures (1hr)

This section examines the end to end operation and procedures that have been defined for CDMA2000. In so doing, various call and session scenarios are discussed. As such, the section utilizes the channels and methods described in the previous sections.

  • Initial CDMA2000 procedures.
  • Connecting using CDMA2000 - originated and terminated sessions.
  • CDMA2000 mobility procedures.
