UMTS Air Interface (2 days or 12 hours)

The UMTS air interface provides a spectrally efficient radio carrier capable of supporting multi kilobit packet channels between the mobile and UTRAN. This course examines the protocols and procedures employed across the air interface as well as the architecture of the physical frame, transport and logical channels. In addition, complexities such as Radio Resource Control, Power Control and Interworking will also be explained. The UMTS System Engineering Course is considered to be an ideal primer for the UMTS Air Interface course, ensuring attendees will gain maximum benefit in the time available.

Who Should Attend

Technical Staff requiring detailed knowledge of UMTS Air Interface operation. Engineers and Designers requiring a comprehensive understanding of the UMTS Air Interface.

Pre - Learning

Pre-Learning is provided to prime those attending the instructor led phase. Each lesson is based on an interactive online format and should take about 30 minutes to complete. The pre-Learning lessons are:

  • Test of Understanding - Try the online check to see how much you know.
  • UMTS Architecture.
  • W-CDMA Principals.
  • UMTS UE and Air Interface.
