Telecoms Convergence (1 days or 6 hours)

Expanding on the Introducing the Mobile Network course, Telecoms Convergence sets out explain how both mobile and fixed networks are evolving in order to deliver broadband IP based services to their subscribers. Designed for non technical professionals, this course sets out to explain the key issues effecting service providers as they converge networks in order to drive service revenue up and reduce costs.

  • Demystifying the Soft Switch - explaining the operation of the MGCF (MSC-S, Call Server) and MGW.

  • Handling Legacy Signalling - SS7 and the requirement for Sigtran.
  • Cost Benefit Analysis of a Packet Switched Core Network.

Section 3: Evolving the Access Networks (2 hours)
