MPLS System Engineering (1 day or 6 hours)

As IP based transport networks are being extensively deployed in Service Provider networks, MPLS is being deployed in tandem, initially within core networks but gradually spreading to access networks. These IP / MPLS hybrid networks offer the advantages of IP coupled with the inherent bonus features of MPLS; namely Traffic Engineering, Resiliency and VPN connectivity. This course is designed to explain the fundamental aspects of MPLS, from overall operation and basic principles to the key features of MPLS which are being employed by Service Providers.

Who Should Attend

Transmission and Switching Engineers involved in the deployment of next generation IP / MPLS networks. Network Planners requiring a comprehensive explanation of MPLS operation.

Pre - Learning

Pre-Learning is provided to prime those attending the instructor led phase. Each lesson is based on an interactive online format and should take about 30 minutes to complete. The pre-Learning lessons are:

  • Test of Understanding - Try the online check to see how much you know.
  • Packet Switching.
  • Protocol Stacks and IP.
  • IP Addressing.
  • Problems with IP in Next Generation Networks.
