GPRS Air Interface (1 day or 6 hours)Following on from the key principles explained in the Engineering the Mobile Network course, this course sets out to focus on the GPRS Air Interface. In so doing, the different logical and physical channels are addressed prior to introducing the different protocols which operate over the air interface and the key signalling messages. The course then moves on to address how resources are allocated for both GPRS and EGPRS operation. To aid understanding, the course includes exercises and analysis of real network traces. Who Should AttendThis course is designed for research and development staff requiring instruction in the operation of the GPRS Air Interface, in addition to engineers involved in the development and management of GPRS radio access networks. Course OutlineDivided into 4 sections, the topics covered will include: Section 1: Logical and Physical Channels (1.5 hours)
Section 2: GPRS Signalling Procedures and Protocols (1.5 hours)
Section 3: GPRS Resource Allocation and Operation (1.5 hours)
Section 4: EGPRS Resource Allocation and Operation (1.5 hours)
