Femto Cell System Engineering (1 days or 6 hours)

In a bid to improve both network capacity and in-building coverage, both network vendors and service providers are investigating the use of Femto Cells as a cost efficient means of satisfying these challenges. This course sets out to explain not only the rationale behind Femto Cells but also the 3GPP’s architecture and operation. The course also reviews how mobility will be supported and discuss the various issues which need to be addressed. Attendees of this course should have a good understanding of UMTS or have attended mpirical’s Engineering the Mobile Network course.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for network engineers involved in the development and operation of Femto Cells and product managers requiring a detailed understanding of the issues effecting Femto Cell deployment.

Pre - Learning

Pre-Learning is provided to prime those attending the instructor led phase. Each lesson is based on an interactive online format and should take about 30 minutes to complete. The pre-Learning lessons are:

  • Test of Understanding - Try the online check to see how much you know.
  • Packet Switching.
  • Protocol Stacks an IP.
  • IP Addressing.
